Missing Cat Resources

Most of these resources are localized to the South Florida, Broward and Palm Beach County area as that is where my focus is for finding Sonya. Some are national and there is a wealth of valuable information out there, unfortunately you won’t find it from your local Animal Control as that is not their specialty.

I will update this page as I find more information.

PAY PER USE OR PAY PER FEATURE

Now, some of the following websites are pay per use or pay for features. Some also EXPIRE LOST CAT listings, which is extremely frustrating to a person who is trying to find their pet companion. They will up-charge in an effort for you to keep your listing active or for the ability to simply ad a picture.

LOSTFOUNDPETS.US:  http://lostfoundpets.us - I was happy with this website until it stopped renewing my listings after 60 days. It also refuses to let you ADD a new listing back into the “system” after a cat is missing 60 days, stating missing cats are rarely found after that time. I also donated twice and only once was my listing promoted. BEWARE.

TABBY TRACKER http://tabbytracker.com – LOST CAT Listing lasts only 1 week, upsell to continue or add any information.

SHELTERS

The following are lists of local rescues and shelters in the South Florida area.

It is important to contact local rescue groups as they are on the front lines of receiving stray animals. Unfortunately, even some rescues assume an animal is abandoned before they assume it is lost. Please contact the rescues themselves to notify them you lost your pet, it is also important to follow up with an email with a flyer with a picture of your pet.

The most important aspect of looking for your lost pet is follow-up follow-up follow-up.

Also check sites for “free pet” or “adaptable pet” listings, as someone could have taken in your pet and assumed it was abandoned and try to find another home without looking for the original owner, you!
